Editorial policy
How content here is researched, written, scored and kept current — and what separates a recommendation from an advertisement.
Nothing on this site is sponsored. No brand has ever paid for a placement, a score, a review or a position in a ranking. If that ever changes it will be disclosed on the page itself, not buried here.
Who writes it
Authorship and expertise
Every article is written by AJ Prince, a certified Healthcare Ergonomic Assessment Specialist with more than fifteen years in orthopedic medicine and occupational ergonomics, conducting over a thousand workstation assessments a year across a multi-campus health system.
Articles carry a byline and a publication date. Where an article is substantially revised rather than lightly corrected, the date is updated and the change noted.
Evidence
What claims rest on
Clinical claims are grounded in published, peer-reviewed research, recognised standards, or direct measurement — not in manufacturer marketing.
The standards used throughout the site are:
- CAESAR anthropometric survey data, for body dimension percentiles
- ANSI/HFES 100-2007, the human factors standard for computer workstations
- BIFMA G1-2013, the ergonomics guideline for furniture fit
- Cornell University Ergonomics Web and OSHA workstation guidance, for seated and standing height ratios
Where evidence is mixed, articles say so. Where a mechanism is plausible but outcome trials are thin, articles say that too. “We do not know yet” is a publishable finding.
Products
How products are evaluated
Products are scored using DEAS, the Desk Ergonomics Assessment Score — three independent layers across eleven dimensions, producing a composite out of ten. The full methodology is published and versioned.
Every score carries a written rationale. Scores are assigned against fixed anchor points rather than by impression, which is what makes them repeatable.
Products are selected for review by category coverage and user relevance. A product is never included because a brand asked, and never excluded because a brand declined.
Independence
Commercial relationships
Some links on this site are affiliate links, explained in full in the affiliate disclosure. Commission plays no part in a score, a ranking position, or whether a product is recommended at all.
Rankings are ordered by DEAS composite. Where a lower-scoring product is better for a specific person — a shorter user, a particular symptom — the article says so explicitly rather than reordering the list.
Where adjustment solves a problem, the article recommends adjustment and no product. That is why most of the free assessment report costs nothing to act on.
Corrections
Errors and updates
Factual errors are corrected promptly. A correction that changes the meaning of a passage is noted on the page; a typographical fix is not.
Product articles are reviewed as the market changes. Discontinued products are removed or marked, and scores are revisited when a manufacturer revises a product rather than simply renaming it.
If you believe something here is wrong, tell us. A specific objection with a source attached gets a faster and better response than a general one.

What this content is not
This is educational content about workstation setup. It is not medical advice, and it does not establish a clinician–patient relationship. See the terms of service for the full position.
