What we collect when you take the free assessment, who touches it, how long we keep it, and how to get it deleted.
The assessment asks where you hurt. That makes your answers health-related information, and it is treated accordingly: never sold, never used for advertising, never shared with product manufacturers, and deleted on request.
In short
The summary
- We collect your email address and your assessment answers. Nothing else is required.
- Your answers are used to generate your report and to improve the assessment. They are never sold or rented.
- We do not run advertising trackers and we do not share your data with product manufacturers.
- You can ask us to delete everything we hold about you at any time, and we will.
The sections below set this out in full.
What we collect
Information you give us
Email address. Required to send your report. Optional if you only want to see your results on screen.
Assessment answers. Your height, build, weight range, hand size, dominant hand, the equipment you currently use, your working habits, your movement test results, and which areas of your body hurt, how often and how severely.
Optional feedback. A star rating and free-text comment at the end of the assessment, if you choose to give them.
Reminder preferences. If you ask to be reminded to finish or revisit the assessment, we store the days and times you chose.
Contact messages. Whatever you write in the contact form, plus the email address you give us to reply to.
Automatically
Information collected in the background
Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard server information to deliver the site and protect it from abuse — IP address, browser type, and pages requested. This is retained briefly for security and operational purposes.
Usage measurement. Our own first-party measurement records which pages you view and how far down you read, which assessment questions you finish, what you choose in the article finder, whether you share your result or follow a product link, and the site or link that brought you. It also records the kind of device you are using (phone, tablet or computer), its operating system and screen width, how quickly pages load for you, and your approximate location — country, and state if you are in the US — which our host works out from your connection. We do not store your IP address for this. It is tied to a random ID that lasts for that browser session only, not to your name. We use it to see where people get stuck and which content helps. If you ask for your report by email, that session’s record is kept with your answers.
We do not use advertising cookies, remarketing pixels, or cross-site trackers. Where a preference is remembered in your browser — such as which version of a page you were shown — it is stored locally on your device and is not readable by us.
Why
How the information is used
- To calculate your results and generate your personalised report
- To email that report to you, if you asked for it
- To send the reminders you specifically requested
- To improve the assessment, by looking at where people leave, which recommendations recur and what feedback says
- To respond to you if you contact us
We do not use your assessment answers to target advertising, and we do not build a profile of you for any commercial purpose beyond producing your own report.
Who else
Service providers
We use a small number of processors. Each is bound to handle your information only on our instructions:
- Cloudflare — hosting, security and the code that runs the assessment
- Resend — delivery of your report and any reminders you requested
- Google Sheets API — product data is read from here. No personal information is sent to it.
Affiliate links to retailers such as Amazon take you to their site, where their privacy policy applies. We do not pass them anything about you; they see only that a visit came from this site.
We will disclose information where we are legally required to, and we will tell you if that happens unless we are prohibited from doing so.
How long
Retention
- Assessment answers and reports — kept while they are useful for improving the assessment, and no longer than 24 months
- Usage measurement — no longer than 24 months
- Email address — kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion
- Reminder preferences — deleted once the reminders have been sent or you cancel them
- Contact messages — kept while the matter is open and for a reasonable period after

15 October 2026. Usage measurement now also records device type, operating system, screen width, page load speed and approximate location (country, and state in the US). The site’s typefaces are now served from mydeskdoctor.com itself, so Google Fonts is no longer a service provider and no request goes to Google when you load a page or open a report email.
