Common questions

What is the DEAS score?

The Desk Ergonomics Assessment Score, Desk Doctor's product rating out of 10. Every product is scored on eleven dimensions in three layers: clinical performance, product quality and value. Tap any row in the ranking for the full breakdown. How we score.

Do fluorescent light covers reduce glare?

They diffuse it. For glare from overhead lights, OSHA's guidance includes diffusers or barriers on fixtures, louvers that redirect the light and, where those aren't available, removing the middle bulbs of a four-bulb fixture.1 A cover softens the light without rewiring; it won't fix a screen that faces a window, so check where your screen sits too.

When does the assessment suggest them?

When your lighting feels too bright: shading the overhead light with fluorescent covers is one of the fixes it offers, alongside a desk lamp with the overheads off, warmer bulbs and blackout curtains.

How often is this ranking updated?

Scores are refreshed as products are revised and new models are scored. The ranking always reflects the current DEAS data.
